1. Your membership: Please read and understand the
terms of your membership agreement. We are a professional
organization and expect our members (and parents of members) to respect
and adhere to the length, payment and/or cancellation options of any
program as outlined in your agreement.2. Punctuality:
Please be "on time" for class by showing up 5-10 minutes early.
During this "extra" time you can chat with friends, do some light
stretching and/or make any other necessary preparations to the actual
start of class.
3.Bowing: Bow whenever you enter or leave the practice area of the Do-jang
(school). The bow is executed by bringing the right fist over the heart (palm side
facing the heart) and saying "Kuk Sool" while bending forward from the waist.
When you first see an Instructor, bow to him/her as you greet them. When you
leave the school, bow to the Instructors as you bid them farewell.
When to bow during practice:
- bow to Instructor when beginning and ending hyung (form)
- bow to Association Flag when practicing hyung without supervision
- bow to partners before and after sparring
- bow to partners before and after techniques practice
- bow any time the Instructor tells you to bow.
The bow is executed by bending forward from the waist slightly, about 45 degrees.
Your eyes should be lowered, but you should still be able to see all of the person
to whom you are bowing. If you are in uniform, your hands should be holding your
belt in the attention position; if you are in street clothes, keep your arms at your
sides.
4. Attire: Please wear a clean, school approved
black uniform each time you enter onto the training floor. Any
T-shirt worn under the jacket should be black. Always treat your
Do-bok (uniform) with respect; after class, fold it neatly. 5.
Personal hygiene: In kickboxing, self defense, and martial
arts training we work in very close quarters. Please be certain at
all times that your body and clothes are clean, that you have showered
and that you are wearing the appropriate amount of deodorant. It
STINKS to workout with someone who stinks! For everyone's benefit,
please "keep it clean". 6. Jewelry: Jewelry is a
HUGE "no-no" here at the Do-Jang(school)-and, yes, we even mean the
little "stud" earring you love to wear.
Jewelry looks great, but hurts A LOT when it's either ripped
from your body or scraped against the body of your partner. Beyond
this, jewelry can get hooked on your or your partner's clothing, get
caught up in someone's hair, or wind up jammed in an unsuspecting
person's eye. If you have a ring or other jewelry that you
absolutely, positively cannot remove, you must tape it flush against
your body with athletic tape. NO EXCEPTIONS! 7.
Language: Do not use foul language in or outside of class.
Whether it be in the locker room, the training floor or even the
sidewalk in front of our school, remember: people are listening!
And, some of those people are children, mothers and others who deserve
your consideration and respect. Note to students and parents:
Discuss any problems with an Instructor immediately. It is our job
to keep you informed, safe, and satisfied as best as possible, so if you
have any questions at any time, feel free to discuss them with your
instructor. Always approach your instructor with a positive
attitude and constructive criticism is a major plus! Thank you!! |
